This wasn't so much a football match as a football battle!
by Steve Ralling
This is the second time we have played this opponent, drawing with them 1-1 at Southglade Park a few weeks ago, and this time we met them on their home turf.
The match started at a high tempo, with both sides passing the ball well and entertaining the crowd.
Priory Celtic opened the scoring with a well-worked goal then followed up minutes later with a second after confusion in the Star Strike defence.
An inspiring half-time talk from manager Scott saw an improved performance in the second half which was rewarded with a superb solo goal from Reuben, who picked up the ball just inside the opponents half and beat a couple of defenders before calmly slotting the ball home past the out-rushing keeper!
Star Strike continued to battle hard in the second half, creating several good chances and winning multiple corners, but were unable to find the net to level the score.
Overall, a very entertaining match against a worthy opponent. Both sides commented that they would like another re-match in the near future.
A good debut from newcomer, Teddy who showed real promise in his first game, and another strong performance from Pharren and Jacob, playing their second match for the team.
An excellent performance from Riley saw him pick up the MOTM award for some great defending and play-making with some quality clearances up the pitch.
